MIRIAM VALE: with its old style main street and its famous mud crab sandwiches, is the administrative centre of the shire. Encompassing national parks and beaches, as well as providing access to the Great Barrier Reef, Miriam Vale Shire is as diverse as it is large.
Miriam Vale, located on the Bruce Highway north of Bundaberg, is the main access point to Agnes Water and the Town of 1770, and is also within easy travel distance to Bundaberg and Gladstone.
Baffle Creek and Rules Beach are popular fishing spots. They have 4WD access to Agnes Water through Deepwater National Park.
The countryside surrounding Bororen is great for bushwalking, horseriding, hang gliding and four wheel driving. The township is also home to an 100 year old hotel and Dragonhall.
Rockhounds will be interested in fossicking around Lowmead.
Rosedale is the southern gateway to the shire. Cattle, timber and small and tree crops are major industries.
Turkey Beach lays claim to some of the best mud crab country along the coast.
At Rules Beach, near the mouth of the Baffle Creek, you can swim in seclusion.
